In a recent survey we conducted, many of the respondents stated that they wanted to have easy access to City and community resources. While many of the resources can be found on each cities website, this post is intended to bring together the most common resources requested.
Poteau Community Resources
The City of Poteau has adopted the International Building Code to govern Building Regulations. A link to the copy of the 2006 International Building Code book is located below. While this governs basic building practices, remember, the City of Poteau has final say. This is included as reference material only.

About City Council Meetings
All city council meetings are open to the public. Agendas can usually be found on either the city website or posted at city hall.
Poteau’s city council meetings are held on the first Monday (excluding holidays) of each month starting at 7PM inside the Council Room of City Hall.
Heavener city council holds their regular scheduled meetings on at 6:00 p.m. on the First Thursday of each month, and immediately following the HUA meeting on the Third Thursday of each month.
Wister city council meetings are held on the first Monday of the month.
Arrive on time. If you are scheduled to speak, provide any material to council members prior to the start of the meeting. The meeting will follow the agenda; if an item is not on the agenda, it will not be discussed. To have an item put on the agenda for discussion, contact the city prior to the meeting to find out how. Occasionally public discussions are welcome at the end of the meetings, but do not expect this. Always be respectful.
The Poteau Chamber of Commerce

All necessary means of promotion shall be provided and particular attention and emphasis shall be given to the economic, civil, commercial, industrial and educational interests of the area.”
