Tour Poteau’s Black Angus Bulls

Black Angus Bulls run Amok in Poteau!

In 2013, the City of Poteau and the Poteau Chamber of Commerce decided to create some local art.  In honor of the late Senator Robert S. Kerr, the black angus bull was chosen.  Sen. Kerr had one of the largest Black Angus ranches in the country.  Those who worked the ranch were on the cutting edge of science, finding new ways to breed a better bull. His ranch was located just south of Poteau and a summer home was located on top of Cavanal Hill.

The colorful and whimsical bulls were painted by local artists Teresa Farrington, Billy Spearman, and a few others, with most of them painted by Teresa, also known as the Okie Artist.  While traveling through Poteau, keep a notebook of all of the Black Angus bulls you run across!
